What can I expect from this Female Sexual Health - Advanced Screening?

This blood and vaginal swab test, available at our wellness clinics in Milton Keynes and around the UK, examines a broad array of prevalent infections, offering a quick and straightforward method to assess your sexual health. Some STIs may not exhibit symptoms and can progress to more severe conditions if left untreated. Keep in mind that it may take up to three weeks for certain sexually transmitted infections to be detected after exposure. When planning the timing of your LML sexual health test, consider this factor. If you test early, it's advisable to retake the test in a few weeks. Your results will be available two days after our lab receives your sample. *Please note that results might be delayed if additional confirmatory testing is needed.

Sexual Health (6 Biomarkers)

Various sexually transmitted infections can be detected through urine or blood samples. Some STIs may not exhibit symptoms and can progress to more severe conditions if left untreated.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia, caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis, is currently the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the UK. Many individuals with chlamydia do not show symptoms, leading to its nickname "The Silent Epidemic." Although chlamydia is easily treatable, untreated cases can result in significant reproductive issues. If you test positive, inform your partner(s) so they can also get tested and treated.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection resulting from the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. If not treated, it can lead to severe reproductive and health complications.

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen

The hepatitis B virus produces Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) in the body, causing a liver infection spread through contact with the blood and bodily fluids of infected individuals. HBsAg tests are used to determine if someone is currently infectious.

Hepatitis C Antibodies

The immune system produces Hepatitis C Antibodies (HCAg) after exposure to hepatitis C, a virus causing a liver infection transmitted through contact with an infected person's blood. HCAg tests are utilised to determine past hepatitis C exposure.

HIV 1&2 Antibodies & p24 Antigen

HIV 1&2 antibodies are created by the immune system in response to HIV exposure. HIV 1&2 antibody tests measure the antibodies produced in reaction to HIV. The p24 antigen is present in the blood serum of newly infected individuals during the short period between infection and seroconversion, making p24 antigen assays helpful in diagnosing primary HIV infection.

Syphilis IgM/IgG

The immune system produces Syphilis IgM/IgG during and after exposure to syphilis. IgM antibodies are the initial response to syphilis, indicating a current infection. IgG antibodies develop after exposure to syphilis and serve as an indicator of long-term immunity created by the body.
